RBT3 – an exciting new future for templating

2026 upgrade for Resourcebase dynamic artwork

Resourcebase is being transformed in 2026 with an all-new RBT3 template platform that keeps the best of what we already have, and supercharges it with a wealth of new, latest-tech features:

Live editing and previews

End-users will see live previews of artwork updates as they type and image changes will be shown instantly. Improvements to our form-based approach will help users when they over-type or make a mistake.

Powerful editing + tagging

Template editors will get a new interface to design, modify and tag artwork for variable content, using an InDesign or on-screen workflow. Tagging is done online, without the need for the Infix app.

Animation tools for web and social

Template editors can easily design animation features for text, objects and images and lock them down for end-users to feed with variable, localised content for web and social banners.

Video templates

Video templating in an easy interface for template designers will allow selectable video segments and brand-controlled overlays, text and logos, for end-users to customise.

Dynamic re-size

RBT3 will allow template designers to create once and then re-size many times for different formats and layouts.

End-users will be able to quickly select from pre-determined options.

In app template artwork creation

Template designers will have a new facility to replace the current inDesign and PDF workflow for less complex tasks.

Create, replicate and re-purpose template artwork in the online editor at pace!

 Also, behind the scenes...

RBT3 also creates a host of other helpful functions and ehancements for template editors:

  • More flexible but precise control to stay on-brand within existing form-based end-user interface
  • New functions to control end-user type styling
  • In-app tagging for locked and variable fields with greatly improved interface – no offline preparation required
  • AI image tools to enhance photography, remove backgrounds, enhance quality, vectorize graphics and logos*
  • Design validation tools to preflight print projects*
  • Enhanced typographic controls including “smart” quotes, bullet handling and new RTL font handling (right-to-left text for Arabic type, etc.)
  • Centralised font management, including complex and custom fonts
  • Improved auto-generation of QR code artwork
  • Additional multi-lingual capabilities across the platform
  • Content moderation tools to flag text and images that violate your guidelines

 What happens next?

In the first half of 2026:

  • We'll need to migrate the current templates onto the new platform. We'll do this as seamlessly as possible and without interruption to the current operation.
  • We'll be asking our clients to supply InDesign files for the current templates as much as they can. We'll work from PDF files for the rest.
  • End-users will see no difference during the changeover until all their templates are all converted – then they'll notice the instant previews and fast file deliveries!
  • We'll be offering training to template editors to work with the new template management and tagging functions.

In the second half of 2026:

  • We'll start introducing the new functions such as dynamic re-size, animation and video templates.
  • Our clients will be asked what's most most interesting to them and we'll give those features priority.

 What does it all cost?

  • Almost all of the enhanced functionality is being introduced free of charge, including the powerful multi-size tool.
  • There will be a small charge for the optional premium tools for animation and video templating.
